Good Afternoon, CE players!

March is here and we are thrilled to announce our theme for the upcoming month; Rainbow Space! We are continuing our monthly origin world spotlight to ensure CE's fantastic themes and original breeds get all of the love they desire along with ensuring all players have access to fun, free, and new genes. For those of you who are new to CE, a CE Original Breed is a breed released by the game for player creation. The genes associated with the breeds are available to be registered in player crossbreeds, so we find it to be very important to continue building upon these foundation breeds to ensure you all have the ability to create interesting, new crosses.

With that being said, this month's spotlight breed is the Nova! This is one of our all-time favorite breeds and originally released in the first version of CE, also known as Marvel Horse. The Nova received a new set of wings, mane/tail, feathering, and a horn; WOW! Ellastasia sure was busy! A handful of colors will be available on the Nova moving forward, but additional recolors will be circulating throughout the month of March in the Magic Shop. For those of you interested in a spotlight package containing all of the March genes - we will have a package available starting March 1! This package will include all of the new Nova genes, March body colors, and the new Splash Body Marking recolor.

Next up, we have beautiful new genes and wearables available in the Cash Shop! These genes also follow the "rainbow space" theme and will be available through the month of march as packages and individual items.

DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Onto development! We are hard at work setting up a new interactive new player guide to help ensure our new players have a thorough understanding of the many features CE has to offer. This is our primary focus before moving onto our remaining plans for Q1 (March).

Remaining Tasks
- Continue tweaking tradeboard/gift process for holding barn spots
- Expiration time for trade lots, including offers
- Expiration time for gift offers
- Horse creation updates
- Misc admin updates

As a reminder, CE is currently in live development and bugs are to be expected. We do our best to balance the resolution of bugs while also focusing on improving upon current features and continuing to brainstorm new features for upcoming release!

We have also finalized development goals for Q2. Many of them will remain a secret until their official release, but here is a preview of a few things we intend on releasing:

- Additional interaction options in companion forest
- Modification of companion forest to allow hourly turns rather than daily
- Adjustments to the notification system
- Elder Quest modifications
- *2 secret, larger features*

Our development plans are subject to change depending on bugs, important suggestions, and player feedback. At the end of the day maintaining current features will always take priority over new areas to ensure CE remains as bug-free as possible!

Welcome to March! We have so many valuable members of our community, and every month we like to shine a spotlight on two of them. Starting this month, there will not be any quoted testimonials attached to our amazing winners. Why? We have had many months when Users didn't know what to say in their nomination, and sometimes were hesitant to even put a nomination through if the User wasn't well known on the forums. It is our hope that this small change will allow members to nominate people they genuinely feel should be given a spotlight for the month, even if that person's kind acts and loyalty to IcePets may be in methods other than posting on our forums. We don't want members to think they don't stand a chance if they aren't comfortable making a lot of posts. Just be kind, be yourself, and your friends here will notice! As we move into March, new Items can be found in the I.C.E Shop for the duration of the month! Head on over to pick up the new Cherry Blossom Petal Stamp and Cherry Blossom Staff, along with the returning Bug Feast. Each of these is priced at 500 IceCash (or 450 IceCash for Gold Members)!



Additionally, a few of our resident shopkeepers have added some new Items to their stock! The Cherry Blossom Snowglobe can be found at the Toy Trunk while the The Little Troot That Could can be found at Ralph's Page Turners. The Cherry Blossom Snowglobe is now rewarded by the Plushie Quest and will be requested by the Space Quest in one week. The Little Troot That Could will be rewarded by the Weapon Questimmediately and requested by Book Quest in one week.





The plants across Terrafrost are slowly becoming more green, and the Token Booth has changed its stock accordingly. You can now find Bonsai Tree Stamp, Daffy, and Honeycomb Ice Cube stocking for Tokens until the beginning of Summer. The Spring Goodie Bag has also been rotated back in, containing spring-themed Items from previous years.

The long-awaited update to our world map is complete! Explore familiar locations and discover entirely new ones, all illustrated with completely refreshed artwork, effects, and animations.

As of this post, the revamped world map has launched! Sornieth comes alive like never before thanks to entirely new artwork, effects, and animations. Below, we'll go over some of the upgrades and changes you'll be seeing as you navigate the new map.



The Wide World of Sornieth

One of the biggest changes you'll notice is that rather than eleven small maps (one per region), everything has been combined into a singular large map. We're able to do this thanks to some new options.

Zooming/Panning

Because the map is so large, we've added a few options to help you explore the new artwork. You can, of course, view the whole realm at once in a smaller, more generalized zoomed-out view, but you'll also be able to zoom in and see the finer details. While zoomed in, you can hold down your finger or mouse button on the artwork and drag to pan the map around.

Full Browser View

For those that want to dive headfirst into the map, we've also added the ability to expand the viewable area to your entire browser window. In this mode, the site UI will disappear, and the map artwork will take up the whole window. This is an incredible way to immerse yourself in the new map and see a lot more at once.

Map Layers

Because the dragons of Sornieth live above and below the waves, we've added the ability to move between terrain and underwater layers. Right now, this mainly applies to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but the system allows us to possibly do some interesting things in the future!

Places of Interest ("POIs")

In the legacy version of the map, special locations in each elemental territory were represented by icons and flavor text below the map, but you never got a true understanding of their exact placement. With the revamp, we've plotted these locations on the map with POI (Place of Interest) markers, and you can click or tap them to read the flavor text.

Animations & Visual Effects

In addition to new artwork, we've tried to bring extra vibrance and life to the map by way of animations (like floating islands, grass waving in the breeze, and wiggling spikes) and visual effects (like embers, snow, and light beams). For our players who are sensitive to flashing or moving graphical elements, you can turn them off on the bottom right corner of the map. Also available is the ability to toggle off the POI map markers, if desired.

Relocate Your Lair

With this update, we've doubled the number of locations for every elemental region and it is now possible to modify, officially, where your lair exists. Each lair tier (e.g. Lesser, Mighty, Venerable, Ancient) now unlocks two (2) locations, and you can choose to move your lair to either one, or to a location in any of the lower tiers you've already unlocked.

There is no limit to how often your clan can move within your current flight/element, so don't feel tied down to any one location! You can access the lair location options by clicking the small gear icon next to your current lair location on the clan profile.

Sharing POIs and Custom Locations

An additional feature we've included with the launch of the revamped world map is the ability to share POIs and custom locations within forum posts. Using new bbcode functions, these will be represented by a widget that others can click to be taken directly to the spot you wanted to share!



Sharing POIs

To share a POI, click or tap the small share icon in the top right corner of a POI's flavor text window. From there, you'll be able to copy the bbcode necessary to share the POI in a map widget on the forums.

Sharing Custom Locations

To share a custom location:

1. Click or tap the marker button in the top right corner of the world map window.
2. Click or tap the spot on the map you want to share to drop the marker there.
3. Click or tap the marker you just placed.
4. Highlight and copy the bbcode in the share window that appears.
5. Paste it in your forum post!

There are also a few parameters you can modify in the copied code to customize your shared custom location a bit more. You can change the following parts of the code to edit the height (minimum 200px, maximum 480px) and width (minimum 200px, maximum 480px) of the widget, as well as add your own custom text.

We want to thank everyone for waiting patiently while we worked on this feature. When we first unveiled it, we certainly had intentions of releasing it far sooner than now. Game development can be an unpredictable process sometimes, and as many of you witnessed, there were urgent or much needed demands on our engineers' time (ex: server migrations and critical backend updates) as well as bringing other awesome or highly requested features to you. We also remain committed to being anti-crunch and maintaining healthy work/life balances. This included adjusting for our team's overall well-being through the events of the past year.

This update is our labor of love, we're overjoyed to share it with you all, because it's been a monumental team effort. This revamp is easily the most massively ambitious art and engineering-heavy thing we've created, and every single developer we have has touched it in some way.
